NEW DELHI: In line with benchmark Sensex, the BSE Smallcap index was also treading higher during Wednesday’s session.

Around 12:40 pm, the BSE Smallcap index was 0.93 per cent up at 16,370, while Sensex was 0.59 per cent up at 35,110. The Nifty50 was 0.66 per cent up at 10,663.

Equity markets were up ahead of the RBI policy outcome scheduled for later in the day.

Shares of Jaiprakash Power Ventures, Sanghvi Movers, Avanti Feeds, Simplex Infrastructures, Renaissance Jewellery, Thirumalai Chemicals and Panama Petrochem zoomed over 10 per cent in the smallcap index.

Shirpur Gold Refinery, Akzo Nobel India, Indian Acrylics, Nahar Industrial Enterprises and Manpasand Beverages plunged up to 5 per cent.

Shares of Manpasand Beverages tanked a day after reports emerged that Sebi and corporate affairs ministry started investigation into non-disclosures and possible accounting lapses at the firm.

Meanwhile, in the Sensex kitty, 26 stocks were trading up, while 5 were down.
