Bank of America Merrill Lynch has poached a senior Credit Suisse investment banker to head up client coverage in its Australian investment banking team.
Street Talk understands BAML has hired M&A banker Daniel Janes, who will join the Wall Street giant’s Sydney office as a managing director.
Janes was co-head of investment banking coverage in Credit Suisse’s local team and head of corporate finance (Australia), advising clients including Vocus Group, SAI Global, Royal Wolf Holdings and the consortium that paid $9.7 billion for the Port of Melbourne in 2016.
He joined Credit Suisse from Barclays Capital in December 2013, where he was co-head of investment banking.
It is understood BAML has also picked up Credit Suisse vice president Chris Gronow, who will join the American bank’s general industrials team.
